We welcomed the first days of Autumn with our Thursday/ Friday crew this week! Our Thursdays and Fridays have had a gentle and slow pace, as we follow the settling- in processes of students who are still becoming comfortable in their new classroom. One thing we have discovered (and love!) about this group is that they've loved getting outside in all kinds of weather. So this week, we prioritized getting outside as much as possible as we welcome and discover Autumn.
On Thursday, that looked like splashing in puddles, making mud cupcakes in the mud kitchen, and painting in the rain! When they were finally all tired out from playing in the rain, we spent a cozy hour inside making and enjoying some homemade pumpkin spice play dough, and enjoying our many new picture books all about Fall!
On Friday, we enjoyed a bit more sunshine and went out on a neighborhood walk, scavenger hunts in hand, to discover the many signs that Fall has arrived. The children had so much fun discovering leaves of all colors, pinecones, acorns, pumpkins, apple trees and more! We were also delighted to spot a monarch caterpillar, which we brought back to inspect in one of the bug viewers made by our Monday- Wednesday students! We had such a wonderful week exploring and connecting as a class, and we can't wait to see what next week brings.
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!
